As the fall semester gets even closer to ending, it reminds me just how short my time left here at the University of Delaware is. It feels like just yesterday that I was a freshman walking into the Honors dorm, ready to begin a new chapter of my life. Now, I’m applying to internships, full-time jobs, and figuring out what direction I want my life to go in. However, while time feels faster than ever, I want to take the time to remember my past four years at UD and enjoy my last one. So, to do this, I came up with a bucket list of four things that I want to do by the end of Spring Semester before walking across that graduation stage.
Eat One Last Meal at Caesar Rodney Dining Hall
While living in Redding, there are two main on-campus options for where you go to get food: Russell Dining Hall and Caesar Rodney Dining Hall. While CR is a bit farther, even if it was raining or cold, I would walk there to get dinner with my friends many times my freshman year. While I don’t really miss dining hall food too much (besides the brunch omelettes that were served on the weekends), CR’s food reminds me of happy memories with the friends that I initially made while on campus. So, before I leave, I want one last meal as a UD undergrad.
Study in Morris Library
While studying in Morris seems pretty simple to put on a bucket list, I have spent many hours there throughout my time at UD. While some of my memories may not be the most pleasant–like staying up until 2 am studying for my CHEM 103/104 exams–they are something that I still cherish greatly. Next semester, I have one final Honors class that I will be taking, and I want to go back and re-experience the late nights that I spent in Morris Library.
Relax and Read on the Green
On warm sunny days on campus, usually in late spring or early fall, you will always catch many students relaxing in the sun on the North or South Green on main campus. There are hammocks out and puppies everywhere. Campus has never felt quite as big as it does on those days where everyone is on the Green. Personally, I have yet to experience sitting out on the Green all day, doing work or reading a good book. I feel like this is a must-do while at UD, so I want to experience at least one day out on the Green before I leave.
Take a Tour Around Campus
With most of my classes this past semester being in ISE Lab and Memorial Hall, I haven’t had much of a chance to walk around the entire campus. UD’s campus is vast and has so many different areas to explore, especially if you include places around North and South Campus. As it gets warmer, I want to take one last walk around the entirety of campus to reflect on my times here at UD. I have grown and changed greatly throughout the past four years, and admiring the view of campus is something that I want to remember and take with me no matter where I go.
