“A Word of Advice” by Brittany Connely

Time has flown by fast. It seems like just yesterday that I was a freshman from across the country, eager to grow up and have new experiences. Never would I have guessed back then that I would become the person I am today and meet people that I cannot imagine my life without. Many of my posts this past year have been me reminiscing about what used to be and what could have been while trying to make the most of each day. With this being my last post for 186 South College, I wasn’t sure how to wrap up all of my experiences into one short blog post. If I were to write a post about everything that has happened since I first came to UD, it would be the size of a book. So, instead of that, I want to give one piece of advice to current graduates, future graduates, and anyone else who needs it.

It’s okay to not know what you are doing. Continue reading

“Running Towards My Dreams” by Brittany Connely

Ever since I was young, I have always wanted to run a marathon. Running a marathon is not an easy task. It requires perseverance and dedication, and thus, would be a major accomplishment for me. And while I had never run a race before, I used to imagine how good it would feel to cross the finish line. When I was finally ready to work towards my dream, life, unfortunately, got in the way. I was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and couldn’t even run a mile, let alone anything further than that. I had multiple surgeries, but there were no promises that I would be able to run ever again. Nonetheless, I continued working as hard as I could to try and achieve that dream. Continue reading

“My Senior Year Bucket List” by Brittany Connely

As the fall semester gets even closer to ending, it reminds me just how short my time left here at the University of Delaware is. It feels like just yesterday that I was a freshman walking into the Honors dorm, ready to begin a new chapter of my life. Now, I’m applying to internships, full-time jobs, and figuring out what direction I want my life to go in. However, while time feels faster than ever, I want to take the time to remember my past four years at UD and enjoy my last one. So, to do this, I came up with a bucket list of four things that I want to do by the end of Spring Semester before walking across that graduation stage. Continue reading

“More Than Just Spring Break” by Brittany Connely

As a freshman, there are so many options for student organizations to get involved in. The possibilities seem endless, especially when attending the Fall Involvement Fair. Seeing all the tables all around campus is simultaneously overwhelming and exciting. Like many of my Honors friends that I made in Redding, I wanted to get involved as much as I could. Therefore, I signed up for as many clubs as I could.

One of the programs that I signed up to be involved with was UD’s Alternative Break Program (UDaB). I have always had a passion for serving my community and thought it would be amazing to spend my Spring Break in another city with a group of students just as passionate about service as I am. So, when it came time for applications to be opened, I filled out the form right when it was released. After several workshops and interviews, I found out that I had gotten into the Spring Program in Boston, working at Community Servings, a non-profit organization that makes meals for individuals and families living with chronic illnesses. I was ecstatic to be in a new place serving others. Continue reading

“Self-Care Tips for Finals” by Brittany Connely

The semester is quickly coming to an end, with group projects, exams, and final papers starting to pile up. While as Honors students it may feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to complete everything, it is important to remember to continue to take care of ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, but allowing yourself a second to breathe is a must. Here are four easy and quick self-care activities for finals to help make you ready to succeed during this upcoming week. Continue reading
