Intensive English Program

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is our core program. Through its various tracks of study, IEP helps students to improve their English for general and professional purposes.

University Preparation Programs

The ELI offers a variety of programs to help students to prepare for undergraduate or graduate programs at a top American university.

UNDERGRADUATE

Academic Transitions (AT)

Description A pathway program for students who have been conditionally-admitted to a bachelor’s degree program at the University of Delaware. Students can earn up to 28 university credits while improving their Academic English skills!
Who is this program for? International students who want to enroll in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree program.

GRADUATE

Graduate Conditional Admissions Program (Graduate CAP)

Description The Grad CAP program helps students to be accepted to a Master’s or PhD program at the University of Delaware (or one of our partner universities). Graduate CAP students are never required to take a TOEFL or IELTS exam!
Who is this program for? International students who want to enroll in an graduate (master’s or doctorate) degree program.

Pre-MBA

Description Preparation for success in an American MBA program–including case study analysis, GMAT/GRE Preparation, and more!
Who is this program for? International students who want to enroll in an MBA or any other graduate degree program that focuses on areas related to Business Administration (e.g., International Business, Finance, Marketing, etc.).

ANY LEVEL (UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE)

Accelerated University English Program (AUEP)

Description Super-intensive Academic English preparation for students who wish to attend an American university program.
Who is this program for? International students who want to pursue either an undergraduate or a graduate degree in the USA and who do not have a conditional admissions offer. Note: AUEP is also available to lower-level students who are on track for Academic Transitions or the Graduate Conditional Admissions Program.

TEST PREPARATION

IELTS Test Preparation

Description This part-time course teaches students strategies for taking the IELTS exam.
Who is this program for? Students who are already studying at the ELI or individuals who are already in the USA and who do not need the ELI to support them to obtain a student visa.

Professional Development Programs

Intensive English Program (IEP)

Description The IEP is our core program, offering several tracks of study, including a Business English curriculum for students in the high-intermediate and advanced levels.
Who is this program for? Anyone who wants to improve their Business English communication skills (including their listening comprehension and pronunciation), learn how to write properly for business settings (including reports and email), enhance their presentation skills, and more.

Executive English Program (EEP)

Description Short-term intensive English program for professionals.
Who is this program for? Working professionals with limited time to study English (i.e., 3 weeks).

American Law and Legal English Institute (ALLEI)

Description Participants learn about the American Legal system while improving their Legal English communication skills in this short-term program.
Who is this program for? Legal professionals (e.g., lawyers, judges, paralegals, etc.) and law students who have completed at least 1-2 years of law school.

Delaware EFL Teacher Training Program (DEFT)

Description Pedagogical training for groups of EFL teachers in other countries. A wonderful professional development opportunity!
Who is this program for? Groups of professionals who are already qualified English teachers in their home country and who want to update their pedagogical skills.

Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language (MA-TESL)

Description We administer the University of Delaware’s Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (MA-TESL) program.
Who is this program for? Individuals who want to become instructors or administrators in ESL programs.

Corporate Tutoring

Description Intensive and semi-intensive Business English instruction for short-term visiting international business professionals in Delaware.
Who is this program for? Professionals who are already in the Delaware area and who need assistance with developing and/or polishing their English skills for work.

Cultural Programs

ADULTS (AGE 17+)

A variety of courses are offered, covering subjects like music, the news, literature, history, theatre/drama, film, and more!

TEENAGERS (AGE 15-17)

Language Adventure USA (LAUSA)

Description This summer (July/August) program for teenagers includes a wonderful combination of English courses through an exploration of American Culture, and a variety of cultural activities, including excursions to regional tourist attractions, hikes, picnics, concerts, etc.
Who is this program for? Teenagers (age 15-17 years) who want to come to the USA for 3-4 weeks to have an enriching cultural and language-learning experience.

Summer Programs for Teenagers

Language Adventure USA (LAUSA)

Part-time Courses

Evening Program

Members of our local community can enroll in the Evening program, which includes 5 hours of courses per week over 9 weeks. No minimum level of English is necessary to take this program.
