Vice President Joseph R. Biden

The current Vice President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, is the university’s most frequent high profile visitor. A graduate of the University of Delaware’s Class of 1965 and recipient of a 2004 Honorary Doctor of Letters, Biden is an avid supporter of Delaware. He returned to the University several times during the 2008 presidential campaign, and has returned to Newark on several occasions since then, giving press conferences, attending sporting events and speaking at the memorial service for civil rights activist Littleton Mitchell.
