Thomas R. Carper, five-time U. S. Representative from Delaware, two-term Governor of Delaware and currently the state’s senior senator, earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Delaware in 1975. Originally a native of Ohio, Carper has spent most of his professional life serving Delaware. In 1976, Carper was elected as state treasurer, a post he held through 1982, when he ran for his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Carper served five terms in the U.S. House, returning to Delaware after being elected governor in 1993. He was elected to the U. S. Senate in 2001, where he currently is serving his second term.
