1853

Early 19th century catalogs listed the courses of study available to Delaware College students, which were concentrated in Classics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Philosophy and Rhetoric, as well as the courses available to the Academical Department. However, catalogs also served as handbooks for the students, providing a full roster of students and faculty, the academic calendar, a listing of expenses, description of facilities, and rules and regulations.

These catalogs were very plain compared with later editions and contained no illustrations beyond a line drawing of Old College. The 1853 catalog was the first to feature Old College with a cupola, added in that year.
