Winter Session Invoice 1845
A Glory to the State
University of Delaware Archives and Records Management
1845
This document itemizes fees paid by Joseph Latimer, a Delaware College student during the 1840s. Of note are the interesting types of fees paid by students of that time, and their costs relative to today. In addition to tuition, students were expected to pay for fuel for both their own rooms and the college building itself, as well as for the use of the college’s library. The academic year consisted of three terms: Fall (September through December), Winter (January through March), and Summer (April through July).
