Conditional Admissions/Pathway Programs
Conditionally-admitted students begin their studies at the ELI, where they improve their Academic English skills and develop the academic skills that are necessary for success at a U.S. university.
After they meet the requirements of their conditional admission at the ELI, these students can begin full-time university study.
Good news! In two ELI programs, no TOEFL or IELTS is ever required for conditional admission or completion of the ELI program!

Academic Transitions
In our pathway program for undergraduate students, they can earn up to 28 university credits while improving their Academic English skills!
Graduate Pathways Program
Graduate Pathways is an intensive one-semester (4-month) program for international students where you can take an academic course in your graduate program and earn three credits towards your graduate degree.
Graduate Conditional Admissions Program
Our university preparation for graduate students specializes in the advanced research and communication skills needed to succeed in master’s and doctoral programs!
University Preparation without Conditional Admission
For students who are not conditionally admitted to a university program, we offer 2 academic preparation programs that prepare students for studies at a U.S. university, and that help them to improve their scores on the standardized exams that are often required in the admissions process for U.S. universities (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, GMAT).
Pre-MBA includes the required curriculum for students who are conditionally admitted to a graduate program in Business at UD.
Accelerated University English Program (AUEP)
This program provides strong academic English and university preparation for international students who are not conditionally admitted to UD.
Grad CAP students with low proficiency may be placed in AUEP.
Test Preparation
Many ELI students decide to take the IELTS exam while they are in Delaware, but they need help with their preparation.
IELTS Exam Preparation
Our IELTS preparation course is a part-time program that helps students to learn strategies for taking the IELTS exam.
