Why Leadership and Service Matters

Through co-curricular experiences, students who participate in leadership and development during their college years graduate with confidence and self-awareness, the ability to work effectively on a team, knowledge on how to create change in the community and tactile leadership experience applicable to any job or industry.

Competency Areas

Our work is grounded in a multitude of student leadership development theories and focuses on six competency areas:

  • Personal Leadership
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Communication
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Community Engagement
  • Management Skills

TEDx

TEDxUniversityofDelaware is an independently run TED Talk-style event that seeks to give a platform to those people and ideas who don’t often have one.  This event is spearheaded by the Creative Leadership, Innovation and Service staff with a committee from the University community. Holding several events annually, TEDxUniversityofDelaware seeks to promote ideas worth spreading from the UD community.

Any UD community member, including students, are encouraged to apply to be a TEDx speaker or volunteer for our planning committee.
