Honors Enrichment Opportunities
Honors Enrichment Funds
Honors enrichment funds are available to Honors College students to assist with activities related to their academic or professional pursuits. These funds are available thanks to the generosity of donors to the Honors College and include the following dedicated funds provided by donors.
- Honors Enrichment Fund – No preferences
- Bottorff Honors Enrichment Fund for Lerner Students – Preference for students enrolled in the Lerner College of Business and Economics.
- Eagleson Memorial Honors Enrichment Fund – Preferred emphasis on activities related to the humanities, consisting of languages, the arts, literature, philosophy, and history.
- Joan H. Digby, ’65 Honors College Enrichment Fund – Preferred emphasis on activities involving national programs such as Partners in the Parks.
- Christine and David Schultz Honors Enrichment Fund – Preferred emphasis for students with financial need whose interests focus on social justice, the environment, and other concerns that advance the greater good of the community.
Student Eligibility:
Full-time Honors College students with an established cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40 at the time of application.
- Students should be in good standing with the Community Standards & Conflict Resolution department.
- Activities must be completed prior to graduation.
- Activities in locations with a Level 3 or higher travel warning as seen on the US State Department’s travel warning page are typically not eligible unless exceptions are granted through UD’s Risk and Security Assessment Committee.
- Some funds are available specifically for those with financial need.
Application Process:
1. Submit an application from the two options below.
2. Request one recommendation from a UD faculty member. Honors staff are not eligible to provide a recommendation.

Applications are open year round and reviewed on a rolling basis. Funds are limited per year so you are encouraged to apply in a timely manner.
Past recipients have used funds to…
-Attend a regional, national or international conference or competition
-Assist with housing, transportation or other costs for an unpaid or low paid internship
-Travel costs related to independent research
Costs related to tuition, salaries, hardware or equipment are ineligible.

All Honors students requesting funds for a UD study abroad program must use this application.- Spring 2025 Application Deadline – April 7, 2025

Honors offers a limited number of $1,000 merit awards for Summer 2025 or Winter 2026 UD study abroad programs. You are encouaged to apply even if you do not know you have been accepted to a UD study abroad program yet.
Harward Munson Fellowships
Dr. Burnaby Munson, co-founder of the Honors College, former Director, Chemistry Professor, and creator of Study Breaks generously endowed these senior-year fellowships in honor of co-founder Donald W. Harward. Students are to use these funds towards winter session senior thesis research and will present their research at the Undergraduate Research Program’s Winter Showcase.
Student Eligibility:
- Full-time research commitment for the Winter Session – 30-40 hours per week.
- Thesis proposal approved
- Honors Degree candidacy approved
- 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA
- Graduating May 2024
