Configuring GIS: Modern, Responsive Web GIS…

Experience Builder and Dashboards are Esri mapping applications that allow users to build professional information products through a configuration experience. If there is only 1-skill that I wish every student exposed to GIS in coursework today came away with, it would be the ability to use these tools. In a short span of time, students can understand how the maps and data that they are working with can be constructed into powerful visuals for elected officials, management, or community stakeholders. The presentation will 1) introduce these tools, 2) offer demonstrations to show how you can get started and how easy the tools are to use, 3) provide instructional resources that faculty and students can use in labs or as supplementary modules.

Brian Baldwin

Brian currently works in Boston MA as a Senior Solution Engineer for Esri supporting Higher Education. GIS brought Brian to the frozen tundra of Duluth MN as a digitizer, to the Big Island of Hawaii as a GIS Analyst, and the streets of Milwaukee as a Crime Analyst. Brian has taught GIS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Salem State University. Brian is also a proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, father of 2, and husband to 1. Brian earned his BA in Geography and History from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New Orleans
