DE 4-H Archery Certification Class

Archery Certification Class ~ Level 1

By completing this training, 4-H volunteers will be considered certified to deliver archery programs to 4-Hers in the state.

Archery Certification Class Dates:
Thursday, September 16, 2021
6:00pm – 8:00pm

Saturday, September 25, 2021
8:30am – 3:00pm

Training Location:

Kent County Extension Building (69 Transportation Circle, Dover, De 19901)

This course will include self-learning modules to do on
your own time and in-person instruction.

Attendance is mandatory during both in-person classes.  Food will not be provided, so please bring your own lunch.

Delaware’s Hunting Laws and Regulations DNREC Workshop

Location: Virtual via Zoom

Join us on Thursday, November 5th for an engaging presentation by Sgt. Chillas with the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife Natural Resource Police on Delaware’s New Hunting Laws and Regulations. She will be discussing the new Hunter Score Card (punch tag) and the proper use of the carcass tags.

7:30 – 8:15 am Senior Division Registration & Bow Check at the FITA Range
8:30 am Senior Divisions start shooting at FITA Range
8:30 – 9:30 am Junior & Intermediate Divisions Registration and Bow Check at the 3D/Field Range
9:45 am Junior & Intermediate Divisions start shooting at 3D/Field Range
12 – 1:00 pm Lunch – The goal is for all divisions to be done around noon to eat lunch.

The 1:00pm start time will be flexible.

This is to allow all youth to have a break after morning shooting for lunch.

4:00 pm Goal is to be finishing shooting on all ranges.
6:00 pm Goal is to be wrapping up awards and leaving.


***All times are subject to change due to range conditions and out of necessity***

The match will begin with a shotgun start (all available lanes/targets occupied). Archers will be assigned to 4-person shooting groups by age bracket. Archers will move through the course expeditiously to avoid delays. Searches for passed arrows will be limited to 2 minutes. Timing will be approximate based on number of participants and available lane/target volunteers.

Registration fee is $25.00 per archer with an option for a $15 event t-shirt.

Registration is now open and will close October 4th.

Late registration closes on October 18th with an additional $5 late fee applied.

Proceeds from this event will go to support Delaware 4-H youth as they travel to the 4-H National Shooting Sports Championship in June of 2020.

Record Book Reminder

County Record Books are a great opportunity for 4-H members to detail their activities and experiences during the past 4-H Year. Take time now to start completing your record book. The forms can be found on the county and state 4-H webpages. We strongly encourage all 4-H members to submit records books for 4-H projects. Record books will be due in the New Castle County Office on September 28th. 4-Hers that complete record books will be honored at the New Castle County 4-H Achievement Event on Nov. 4th! Please let us know if you have questions or need help!


Delaware Farm Bureau Livestock Rate of Gain Contest

All 4-H and FFA Rate of Gain Contest forms are due to Susan Garey in the Kent County Extension office postmarked by August 17, 2018. Complete rules and entry forms are available on the State 4-H Animal Science webpage.

Other Agenda Items

Gary read a nice letter from Jim Kemble regarding his time and dedication to the 4-H shooting sports program and the letter concluded by sharing that he will be moving out of state, although Jim does plan on visiting and staying in touch!  Delaware 4-H shooting sports will miss Jim and recognizes Jim’s commitment to the shooting sports program over many, many years.  Jim ws recently inducted into the Delaware 4-H Hall of Fame.  Good Luck Jim and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Tennessee.
