Breathing Techniques From Our GEM Curriculum
Star Breathing
Get in an upright seated position with your back straight, feet flat on the floor
and roll your shoulders back, making sure you can breathe easily.
For the exercise, we are going to image a star, breathing in, holding, and breathing out for every point.
Starting at any point of the star…
INHALE as you trace the first “breathe in” side of star’s first point
HOLD your breath when you reach the tip of the point
EXHALE and breathe out as you trace your finger down the “breath out” side of the first
point
REPEAT until you reach where you started
for a total of 5 repetitions of “breath in →
hold → breathe out”
This breathing exercise helps us focus on our breathing, making each breath meaningful.
