Breathing Techniques From Our GEM Curriculum
Triangle Breath
Get in an upright seated position with your back straight, feet flat on the floor and roll
your shoulders back, making sure you can breathe easily. For the exercise, we are
going to image a triangle, breathing in on one side, holding for another side, and then
breathing out for the last side.
Starting at the bottom left of the triangle…
INHALE for a count of 3, as you trace the first side of the triangle
HOLD for a count of 3, as you trace the second side of the triangle
EXHALE for a count of 3, as you trace the last side of the triangle
Repeat 3x!
This breathing exercise helps us form a steady and consistent rhythm of breathing.
Vaping at an Early Age
Did you know that 39% of kids who have vaped in the past have started at the young age of 15?

FREE Mental Health First Aid Training |
---|
Most of us would know how to help if we saw someone having a heart attack — we’d start CPR or call 9-1-1. But too few of us would know how to respond if we saw someone having a panic attack or showing signs of alcoholism. Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. It takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health or substance use by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential issue. Beebe HealthCare is partnering with the University of Delaware to offer free Mental Health First Aid training. There are 2 class options: Online Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, 9am-3:30pm (**Registration for online class closes Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 10 am) In-Person Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, 9am-4pm, Beebe Healthcare Physical Rehabilitation Conference Room, 19324 Lighthouse Plaza Blvd., Rehoboth, 19971 |
