    The intern will support ACEEE’s Local Policy and Community Strategies team. The intern’s primary task will be data collection and analysis for a report assessing the progress of U.S. and Canadian cities toward improving the energy performance of their local government, buildings sector and community as a whole. The intern will also assist in preparation of the section of the 2015 City Energy Efficiency Scorecard related to the historical energy performance of cities. The intern may assist with other tasks related to state and local energy efficiency policy, including research or outreach for the City Energy Efficiency Scorecard, the State Energy Efficiency Scorecard , or the State and Local Policy Database .

    Policy Lead, Transportation

    The Policy Lead, Transportation reports to the Director of Policy and is responsible for leading SAFE’s policy-related work on all facets of transportation issues and technologies, including the production of reports, briefs, presentations, and other items. Primary issues of focus include advanced transportation technologies and fuels, including electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, hydrogen, and biofuels as well as broader transportation trends, including fuel efficiency, infrastructure, and autonomous vehicles. The Policy Lead also contributes to SAFE’s external communications and supports the work of other departments as necessary.

    Policy Lead, Economic Analysis

    The Policy Lead, Economic Analysis reports to the Director of Policy and is responsible for leading SAFE’s policy-related analysis and writing on issues related to energy markets, technology, and the global economy. Responsibilities include the production of reports, briefs, presentations, and other items. Primary issues of focus include new technology economics, energy spending and trade, global financial markets, and industry dynamics. The Policy Lead also contributes to SAFE’s external communications and supports the work of other departments as necessary.

    PUBLIC POLICY – Assistant Professor

We seek candidates with a well-conceived, theoretically informed agenda of systematic empirical research on important public policy issues. The successful candidate will conduct research that links to the increasing emphasis on evidence-based policymaking, broadly defined; will be able to teach courses on policy analysis, program evaluation and related topics in the department’s NASPAA-accredited MPA program; and will show promise of achieving extramural funding for policy-relevant research. The candidate must have a PhD in Political Science or a closely-related discipline in hand by 15 August 2015.

    Sociology – Faculty Position

    Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Media & Communication

    Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2015. Our curriculum emphasizes the relationships between communication, democracy, and social justice, and seeks to integrate theory and practice.
    It provides students with a critical approach to the analysis of media forms, institutions, practices, and effects. We seek a generalist with a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment. Areas of specialization are open, but expertise in the sociology of media, the political economy and social impact of digital media, and / or global media studies will complement current departmental initiatives. The new colleague must be able to teach major requirements such as Media and Society, Documentary Research and / or Media Theory and Methods, and other elective courses in their area of expertise.

    The successful candidate must combine teaching excellence with a strong commitment to Muhlenberg’s general education curriculum, including diversity and global engagement, along with an intellectually compelling research agenda.     Assistant/Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management

    We are seeking a scholar interested in fundamental questions regarding the organization, operation, resource generation, and cross-sector management challenges of nonprofit organizations ­ the “nuts and bolts” of operating and sustaining a nonprofit. Substantial managerial experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus but not required. Rockefeller College is open to researchers using a wide range of methods (e.g., ethnography, computational modeling, social network analysis, ³big data² techniques, etc.). However, we are particularly interested in researchers that creatively employ mixed mode qualitative/quantitative approaches. We prefer candidates who can contribute to our existing undergraduate, MPA, or doctoral programs as well as our new Masters of International Affairs

    The Graduate School of Design (GSD) at Harvard University is currently looking for a full-time Research Associate to join the research team of Health and Places Initiative (http://research.gsd.harvard.edu/hapi/). The candidate will work under the supervision of project director Ann Forsyth, Professor of Urban Planning at the GSD.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    The preferred candidate will display specialized knowledge of the connection between health and places. This position will work collaboratively with the affiliated investigators, other research associates, and other researchers related to the project. More specifically, he or she will:

    Prepare various written reports, including planning and design guidelines for healthy places, web site text, and other related materials
    Collaborate in adapting and testing health assessment tools including reviewing plans and designs
    Investigate case studies of healthy environments
    Locate, organize, and analyze quantitative, qualitative and design information
    Present and summarize results at team meetings
    Assist in preparing academic conferences, webinars, and other presentations
    Manage, organize, and classify research information
    Assist research duties of the Project Director and support activities of the program

    Basic Qualifications:
    Masters degree in urban or environmental planning, public health (environmental), or related fields
    Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; computer search skills
    Fluent in English

    Additional Qualifications:
    Interest in the connection between public health and urban environments and in evidence-based design and planning
    Demonstrated experience working in a team setting
    Strong analytical abilities; grasp of qualitative and quantitative methods, evaluating research quality
    Excellent writing skills, especially writing concisely, and ability to address multiple audiences
    Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
    Not required: Chinese language proficiency

    The National Housing Trust/Enterprise Preservation Corporation (NHT/Enterprise) seeks a Sustainability Associate to assist in the management of the organization’s affordable housing portfolio and advance its energy and water efficiency goals.

    NHT/Enterprise is an award winning non-profit housing developer that works to provide affordable housing for low and moderate income families and seniors. The organization owns and operates almost 3,000 units of affordable housing along the East Coast. One of its many goals is to be a leader in sustainability and the greening of affordable housing.

    In 2013 NHT/Enterprise signed onto the U.S. Department of Energy Better Buildings Challenge and made a commitment to cut energy and water usage across its portfolio by 20% by 2020. The Sustainability Associate will play a crucial role in improving the efficiency of property operations and assisting the organization in meeting its Better Building Challenge Goals.

    Key Responsibilities
    Sustainability and the Better Buildings Challenge go hand in hand with optimal building management and operations. As a result, the Sustainability Associate will work closely with the asset management and sustainability teams. In addition to a background in sustainability, those with knowledge of buildings and property management will have a significant advantage in the application process.

    Duties include:
     Work with the Director of Asset Management to implement cost savings & efficiency across the portfolio
     Work with the Sustainable Development Manager to track energy and water usage across the properties
     Work with Property Managers to implement the Green Operations & Maintenance Plan
     Develop property and compliance reports for board members and investors
     Perform cost/benefits analysis of making capital investments in the properties
     Prepare and analyze financial feasibility of capital needs and sustainability improvements
     Research and apply for grants to support sustainability work
     Develop a building information database

    Qualifications
     Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sustainability, Construction Management, Engineering, Urban Planning, Economics, or related field
     1-3 years of experience in finance, property management, sustainability, green building, energy efficiency, construction, or environmental management. Part-time & summer experience in the field is acceptable
     Knowledge of buildings and property management a major plus
     Ability to understand and analyze dynamic data sets
     Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
     Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
     Excellent oral and written communications skills
     A demonstrated interest in low-income communities
