SEPTA from Newark to Wilmington and Philadelphia

Service between the Newark Train Station and Center City Philadelphia along the SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail line is available Monday through Friday. Monday through Friday, trains arrive and depart the Newark Train Station on SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail line at 6:22 am, 6:46 am, 7:24 am, 8:17 am, and 8:58 am, 4:46 pm, 5:43 pm, 6:46 pm, and 7:23 pm.

An express bus operated by DART departs the Newark Train Station for the Wilmington Train Station at 11:50 am and arrives at the Newark Train Station from the Wilmington Train Station at 1:05 pm.

AMTRAK from Newark along the Northeast Corridor

Limited AMTRAK service on the Northeast Regional line is available from Newark Train Station. AMTRAK tickets can be purchased online.

M-F: The Northeast Regional 186 departs Newark NB at 2:24 pm | SB at 7:30 pm

Sat-Sun: The Northeast Regional 156 departs Newark NB 3:44 pm | 182 NB 8:41 pm | 82 SB 5:05 pm | 135 SB 8:05 pm

 

Arriving at the Newark Train Station

UD Shuttle Buses:

The earliest stop at the train station on the South Campus Route is an “on demand” stop before 4:39 am (M-F). The earliest stop at the train station on the Express Route is an “on demand” stop after 7:00 am (M-F).

The first stop at the train station on the Evening Route 1 is an “on demand” stop after 6:10 pm (7 days). Evening 1 also stops at the DART Bus Shelter on the opposite side of South College Avenue. This is an “on demand” stop beginning after 6:19 pm. This route will repeat these stops every 40 minutes until its last run. The Unicity Bus System also serves the Train Station on Monday through Friday daytime routes. Routes N-1, N-2 AM and N-2 PM, serve the Train Station.

To reduce waiting time, shuttle buses on routes serving south campus will stop on the return/Northbound trip on South College Avenue, north of the pedestrian bridge, across from Ritter Lane.

If you arrive on a northbound train, you will need to cross the bridge over the railroad tracks. If you arrive on a southbound train, you can continue through the parking lot to the Ritter Lane stop.

AMTRAK’s Northeast Regional 193 departs Newark at 7:30 pm and arrive at BWI at 8:29 pm.

The Northeast Regional 186 departs BWI at 1:30 pm and arrives at Newark at 2:24 pm. The Northeast Regional 134 departs BWI at 3:57 pm and arrives Newark at 4:50 pm.

Note that service to/from Wilmington is more robust than service to/from Newark.

Greyhound

Greyhound service departs Newark (Park & Ride at 896 & Rt 4) at 2:40 pm and arrives at BWI at 6:30 pm. (7 days a week)

Greyhound service departs Wilmington (across from Wilmington Train Station) for BWI at 11 am (7 days) and 4:20 pm (4:25 Sat-Sun).

Greyhound service departs Newark (Park & Ride at 896 & Rt 4) at 1:15 pm and arrives in NYC at 5:45 pm. (7 days a week)

Greyhound service from Wilmington (across from Wilmington Train Station) is more robust than service from Newark. Additionally, service is available from Philadelphia on Greyhound’s Bolt Bus service.

The Bolt Bus stop is across from the 30th Street Station, which is on the SEPTA Wilmington/Newark regional rail line. Monday-Friday, service is available from Newark.(see above for more information on departing Newark) Sat-Sun, service is available from Wilmington. (see above for information on getting to the Wilmington train station)

Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus Lines have announced an expansion to their premium Express service in the Northeast by adding a new route between New York City and Wilmington, Delaware.

Twice daily round-trip service began on Monday, Feb. 13 and tickets are now on sale at www.mygreyhoundexpress.com or www.peterpanbus.com.

Express provides customers with a premium service on new buses equipped with onboard amenities such as free Wi-Fi, leather seats, extra legroom and power outlets. Express operates from dedicated gates and a private waiting area, where a guest services specialist provides an extra level of service for customers.
