Charter Bus Service Information

Transportation Services at the University of Delaware provides charter bus service to the University community. Each department or University student group that wishes to use the service must provide authorization by submitting a Request for Service Web Form. Before submitting a request, it is necessary to contact the Transportation Service office to ensure availability. This form must be received at least one week prior to the date of service.

Charter Bus Rates

Charter Bus Service rates for the academic year 2022-2023 are as follows:

University Shuttle Bus Charter: $95.00  per hour, 3 hour minimum (includes pre trip prep and post trip clean up), no additional fee for mileage. An increase to $95.00 per hour will go into effect July 1, 2022. Please note that UD Buses are not available Monday through Friday during the semesters, thus all requests during these times will be referred to local charter companies for pricing and availability.  

The department/group requesting charter service is responsible to pay any tolls and/or parking fees during the trip. Buses are equipped with EZ-Pass transponders, and toll charges will be added to the final bill. All other fees are not factored into the total charges.

A 24 hour cancellation notice is required. A 3 hour minimum charge will be incurred for any reservation cancelled with less than 24 hour notice.

Policies For UD Shuttle Bus Charters

Charter requests are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Animals, with the exception of licensed Aid Dogs, are strictly prohibited from UD Shuttle Buses.

Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages and/or drugs in UD Shuttle Buses is prohibited. Evidence of such may result in the forfeiture of future Charter privileges.

Smoking is prohibited in all University Shuttle Buses.

Coach Buses

Additionally, coach buses are available through a contract with Delaware Express and THG Transport.

The buses provided are of various sizes, most with a bathroom. Rates vary and a $25 administration fee is assessed.

Cancellation Policy for Delaware Express: No charge if cancelled up to 3 days before the trip (not including the day of the trip).
