Hello 4-H Friends,
As January comes and goes, we begin to pick up with 4-H events, opportunities and contest- so please continue to check your email and the newsletter to make sure that you have the most updated information.
As February begins, we have several items coming up which include:
C-3 Meeting – February 8th
Photography Entries Due – February 12th
Virtual State Teen Conference – February 13th
Skill building workshops – 13th
Skill building workshops – 20th
Camp Scholarships Due – 26th
Skill building workshops – 27th
Foods Judging Training – March 2nd
Favorite Foods has been postponed to a later date, you can still submit entries to Serena by Friday, February 12th. We will be opening entries back up once we determine when we are going to be holding the event for those who would like to change their entry, can now attend or are no longer able to attend. If you have questions, please reach out to me. Photography contest is still going to be held, please submit entries to Ms. Jenny. If you have questions, please contact her at jtrunfio@udel.edu. Results will be shared online.
The Leaders Forum will not be taking place this year; there will be other volunteer development opportunities that you can take advantage of throughout the year. State Teen Conference will be virtual on Saturday, February 13. Those who signed up- be ready for some fun and new leadership opportunities.
Up and coming items to be aware of: start studying for the Horse Bowl (which will be virtual), prepping for Judging contests (March 22nd Foods, Wildlife and Horticulture) and finding topics for demonstrations(April 15th & May 15th). Summer camp scholarship applications will be due on Feb. 26, get ready for the clothing showcase and more spring events.
Teens, please consider submitting a State Record Book to win a trip to National 4-H Congress. I am more than willing to meet with you and set up check ins with you to stay on track to get your book completed in time.
Reminder: all 4-H members must enroll or re-enroll in 4-H Online by March 1, 2021 to be eligible to participate in any summer county and statewide events. You can register HERE.
Inclement Weather Policy – If the Christina School District closes for the day, has early dismissal, or cancels after-school activities, then New Castle County 4-H events are cancelled. Weekend 4-H events will be cancelled if the University of Delaware closes or cancels events.
