Happy Spring!
Well, the school year is starting to (slowly) wind down, but we still have a LOT of upcoming 4-H events and contests!
Please scroll through the newsletter for more information and important links for things like fair entries, demo contest, skill-a-thon contest, livestock judging contests and other events we’ve been listing in recent newsletters. Be sure to take the time to go through it all so you don’t miss any opportunities!
April is Volunteer Recognition Month and we here at the office would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers who continue to put in countless hours. We also encouraging 4-H members to personally thank your leaders over the next month as you see them at meetings and events. Send them a personal hand-written note or a phone call to let them know you appreciate everything they do for you! They put in many hours and hard work to ensure you have a great 4-H experience. We would not be able to deliver all the programs we do without our great volunteers!
Delaware State Fair registration opens, April 1st for all exhibitors, enter through the Delaware State Fair exhibitor’s page. Please make sure you are in the 4-H Section, not the Children’s department. Also, please do not wait until June 1st to enter your Fair exhibits. We recommend registering sooner rather than later. The Fair will not allow you to enter anything after June 1st. Info (everything you need to know) and the link to the State Fair site can be found in the post about the State Fair Newsletter.
SENIORS!!!! Calling all Seniors! Don’t forget to fill out the Delaware 4-H Foundation scholarship and the Senior Spotlight! We want to make sure you are featured in the Senior Spotlights on social media and in the newsletters!
A YQCA Training session has been added for those showing livestock at the Fair. All Delaware State Fair junior exhibitors showing a market animal (steer, market lamb, market goat or market hog) are required to have a current quality assurance certification to enter and exhibit in a market class at the Delaware State Fair. The training will be at the NCC Office at 6:30 on April 9. Info on registering is in the newsletter.
There are still a few spots left for State Camp Week 1. It does open to the public on April 1.
Newark Day Camp and Cloverbud Camp are full. We do have spots open in our CIT (Counselor in Training) Day Camp for youth ages 13-16 as of May 30. You can register for that in 4-HOnline.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the 4-H office with any questions or concerns and we hope to see you at a 4-H event soon!
Yours in 4-H,
Ms. Kaitlin
