The University of Delaware’s AI Center of Excellence (AICoE) and Data Science Institute (DSI) along with the ATOM team ran their first UD-Accelerating Therapeutics for Opportunities in Medicine (ATOM) Hackathon! This 3-day event provided an opportunity to solve in drug discovery challenges and contribute to case studies in AI driven molecular modeling.
Hackathon Dates: Thursday, July 18th 2024 – Saturday, July 20th 2024
Location: Fintech Innovation Hub, 591 Collaboration Way, Newark DE, 19713
At first-ever ATOM hackathon, students from around the country code real-world health solutions
The University of Delaware event brought together developers, biologists, physicists and business analysts to improve therpeutic software with AI applications

About ATOM
ATOM is a community effort developing an easy to use ecosystem for molecular discovery. It began as a collective effort involving national laboratories, industry and academia, that continues as an open source software development effort creating a readily accessible, usable and integrated Python software system for training and using predictive AI molecular models, generalized generative AI approaches, and portable representations of trained models. See the GitHub repository for more information at https://github.com/ATOMScience-org.

Hackathon Reception Event
UD-ATOM Hackathon participants, sponsors, and our local industry partners are invited to the Hackathon Reception taking place on the first evening of the 3-day event. Meet participants from UD, NIH/NCI, and Frederick National Lab of Cancer Research (FNLCR). STAR Campus and the Fintech building are home to many of our local partners, as well. It will be a great opportunity to network, build connections, and enjoy some food!
