Josh Vietti

This week, WVUD spoke with violinist Josh Vietti. Vietti is currently working on his fifth and sixth albums and is touring the United States. Specializing in hip-hop and jazz, Vietti says the next two albums will feature music from both genres.

Vietti is currently touring the United States, and you can catch him for free on Friday, September 29 at 10 p.m. at Perkins Student Center for the Perkins Live series.

About the Violinist

Josh Vietti first picked up the violin when he was four, and at age seven he earned a violin scholarship with Mischa Lefkowitz, whom he studied with for ten years. Vietti has performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown and played the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium. The violinist has opened for iconic artists like Earth Wind & Fire Ne-Yo and Lil Wayne. He is currently working on two new albums with hip-hop and jazz influences.

Singin’ with Heather Pierson

Heather Pierson Singin' Cover Heather Pierson joined WVUD’s The Music Room to talk about her musical history and her trio’s newest album  Singin’.

Her trio offers a variety of sounds such as blues, folk and jazz, while incorporating each member’s talents playing an array of instruments. Pierson raved about the importance of the love of music in her life and the influence it has on her songwriting and performing.

About the Band

Debuting in 2015 with their EP Still She Will Fly, The Heather Pierson Trio consists of Heather Pierson, Shawn Nadeau, and Davy Sturtevant. Shawn plays upright bass while Davy specializes in guitar, fiddle, dobro, mandolin and more. Their newest album, Singin’, displays the trio’s diverse abilities to play a variety of instruments and styles of music. They are touring the country offering intimate concerts at a multitude of venues.
