Juan de Fuca should’ve been cowboys

Juan de Fuca in the WVUD studio

The Athens, GA, band Juan de Fuca at WVUD: Jack Cherry, Jack Webster, CJ Brown, & Howard Stewart (l. to r.)

For the second year in a row, Jack Webster stopped by the WVUD studios with one of the bands he plays with in Athens, GA. On Memorial Day, Juan de Fuca — Jack Webster (bass), Jack Cherry (vocals, keyboards, guitar), CJ Brown (guitar & keyboards), and Howard Stewart (drums) — stopped by WVUD to visit with us on their way home from playing in and around New York City.

We learned about the Athens music scene, Jack Cherry’s song-writing, Jack Webster’s talented sister, the lack of air-conditioning in CJ’s apartment, Howard’s drumming with multiple bands, and all the band’s current obsession with Toby Keith.

Their current music is available at their JuandeFucaMusic site at Bandcamp. They expect to release a new record called Solve/Resolve in late June.

Check out this fun conversation with an inventive Athens band. And keep listening until the very end of the podcast for a surprise Juan de Fuca station ID!
