The Nate Chung Project

On this episode of The Music Room, WVUD had the opportunity to speak with Nate Chung and Casey Dawson, two out of the four members, from The Nate Chung Project. Throughout the interview, we were able to get perspective on what it’s like to be a full-time college student with an unpredictable schedule while still managing to record music for your band. The two were able to explain to us how they all came together and what’s next for the band following graduation.

About the Band

The Nate Chung Project is an acoustic rock band made up of four members: Nate Chung, Casey Dawson, Sean Horan, and Frank Dwyer. The band came together in the Spring of 2017 at The College of Holy Cross and has been recording music together ever since. Nate Chung, the main vocalist from the band, first started fooling around with music in middle school but began to take it more seriously in high school. While attending The College of Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts, the band has been preforming at many local establishments and college events. Recently, they recorded their first album and it’s now streaming on Spotify and iTunes and has received great feedback.

About The Singer-Songwriter

Phoebe Legere had her first debut at 16 in Carnegie Hall and had her song “Amazing Love” featured in the Top 40 of Adult Contemporary in 1997. Not only is Legere a talented singer-songwriter, but she also has stared in a her fair share of independent films including, “Mondo New York,” “Toxic Avenger 2,” and “Toxic Avenger 3.” As if preforming at Carnegie Hall wasn’t enough, Legere also had the honor of opening up for David Bowie during his national tour in 1991, and was later nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in music.

Josh Vietti: Hip-Hop Violinist

This week, WVUD spoke with violinist Josh Vietti. Vietti is currently working on his fifth and sixth albums and is touring the United States. Specializing in hip-hop and jazz, Vietti says the next two albums will feature music from both genres.

Vietti is currently touring the United States, and you can catch him for free on Friday, September 29 at 10 p.m. at Perkins Student Center for the Perkins Live series.

About the Violinist

Josh Vietti first picked up the violin when he was four, and at age seven he earned a violin scholarship with Mischa Lefkowitz, whom he studied with for ten years. Vietti has performed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown and played the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium. The violinist has opened for iconic artists like Earth Wind & Fire Ne-Yo and Lil Wayne. He is currently working on two new albums with hip-hop and jazz influences.
