Important Updates
GSG is saddened by the recent federal actions and their attack on members of our community. The termination of SEVIS records and issuance of a travel ban can be confusing and harmful to our international students. CGPS has compiled a list of FAQs, which can be found at the end of this page. GSG recently hosted a town hall with CGPS and can be found below.

Resources for International Students
Moving to a new country can be stressful. GSG, the Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS), and the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) are here to help provide advice, including immigration advising and support, to our international community. Here we will summarize and compile the resources available to international students. We encourage you to check out the CGPS website for up-to-date information.
Make sure you check out the Terra Dott Software (TDS) portal. This is a centralized program to complete tasks, participate in learning modules, and work with ISSS.
Find recent announcements from ISSS here. You can also sign up to be on the ISSS mailing list. We strongly recommend all international students join/stay on this mailing list.
Disclaimer: The information contained on this web site is provided as a service to international students, faculty, staff, employees, and administrators at the University of Delaware, and does not constitute legal advice on any immigration, tax, or other matter. As legal advice must be tailored to the specific circumstances of each case, and laws are constantly changing, nothing provided herein should be used as a substitute for the advice of official counsel. For assistance on your immigration status, we encourage you to contact an ISS advisor for specific guidance at oiss@udel.edu.
Travel and Visas
Talk to CGPS before any travel to make sure your visa status is valid and will remain so until you return. When you travel, make sure you have your passport, a valid visa , financial information, a valid I-20 or DS-2019, and proof of insurance (J-1/J-2 visas only). For F-1 students, also bring a valid EAD card and evidence of employement. For J-1 students traveling on approved academic training, also bring your academic training approval letter and employer letter.
For more details on traveling and on your visa, check out these resources.
Employement
As an F-1 or J-1 student, you may find that you are interested in work opportunities in the U.S. It is important to remember that the U.S. government defines “work” as any activity that someone would normally be paid to perform. Even if you are not being paid, you still may need authorization. Always check with CGPS before accepting any work opportunity, even if it is unpaid or “volunteer.” We will help you to meet your goals in a legal way.
