GSG Statement on COVID-19 Discrimination

The UD Graduate Student Government is reaching out to our graduate student community regarding the current climate surrounding the on-going situation that is COVID-19.

The current situation has led to instances of violence and discrimination towards members of the Asian American, Pacific Islander and East Asian communities. We condemn and denounce such behavior and language in the strongest possible terms. Students who belong to these communities are especially at risk of being victims of such aggression.

We want to assure all UD graduate students from the above-mentioned communities that the GSG stands with you and will support you in whichever way we can, not only as an organization but also as colleagues and friends should such an incidence occur. We also encourage all graduate students to be vigilant and to show empathy and support to members of these
communities.

If at any point, you experience harassment or discrimination of any kind, please file a report with the Office of Equity and Inclusion(OEI). If you are feeling anxious and need to talk, you can reach out to any of the members of the GSG Executive Council or the GSG Diversity Committee regarding any and all issues or questions, and the GSG will make sure that your grievances and concerns are brought to the notice of the appropriate campus organizations and in the appropriate manner. You can reach us via text, email, WhatsApp, Slack or even WeChat. Email us at mailto:udgsg.members@gmail.com.

In addition to the Office of Equity and Inclusion, international students can reach out to the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS).

We are here for you. We are with you, always.
