10th Annual Graduate Students’ Forum

We invite you to the 10th Annual Graduate Students’ Forum for Research and Creative Endeavors on Friday, April 23rd 2021 over Zoom webinar. This year’s overarching theme is “Succeeding in a Virtual World: Advancing Your Research and Career Journey.” We are honored to announce that Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, United States Congresswoman for Delaware and UD graduate student alumna, will address the Forum in addition to a keynote panel featuring Dr. Wei Chen, Managing Director, Head of Credit Strategy and Analytics at Barclays; Ms. Fatimah Conley, JD, UD’s Interim Chief Diversity Officer; Dr. Rudolf Eigenmann, Professor, UD’s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering; and Dr. Lou Rossi, Dean of UD’s Graduate College and Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education.

In addition to the Forum, we are hosting a Professional Development Week from Monday, April 19 to Thursday, April 22, 2021 that will include several workshops that will assist you in securing and excelling in your career.

Monday, April 19th: 12-1 PM CV, cover letter, and building your network advice Can your resume survive a 15 second scan and still get into the YES pile? Let’s ensure your resume is in top shape and your cover letter writing skills are ready for when that next great opportunity presents itself. In this session, you will learn the strategies of effective messaging and how to be “on-point” with your written communication. Workshop lead by Suprawee Tepsuporn.
Tuesday, April 20th 12-1 PM  The Job Search for International Students As an international student, there are some key considerations as you search for internships and full-time employment. Join the Assistant Director for International Student Career Readiness, Travis Pocta, as he discusses how to leverage your skills and abilities as an international student to better navigate the job search process.
Wednesday, April 21st 1-2 PM  Interview Best Practices: Nervous about job interviews? You are not alone! Join us in this workshop to learn strategies to ace the interviews. We will discuss the nuts and bolts and how to articulate your fit for the role and organization. Sample interview questions will be provided along with tips on how to answer these tough questions. Workshop lead by Suprawee Tepsuporn and Rachel Coppola.
