November Testing Committee Progress Report

The Testing Committee consists of Walt Babich Mary Beth Worrilow, Ken Cranker, Kathy Vodvarka, Mike Fields and Scott Partridge.

1) We are currently actively looking for a product to replace the Michigan Aural. We have ruled out the test offered by Pearson, but we will meet with Scott and Nicole next week to consider a Michigan/Cambridge product.

2) We met with the Curriculum Committee last session to discuss gathering data to help inform policy.

3) We are developing a new form of the reading test. Two sections of the test have been drafted, with another in the works. The form will be reviewed and tweaked next session by the Committee before it is piloted.

4) We will oversee the final essay norm referencing exercise with committee members facilitating. It will be more involved than some of our recent sessions as everyone will review essays from all the levels. You will receive a package of essays before the session so that you can be  prepared for the meeting.

5) We continue doing our regular work, including packaging and distributing final reading tests, monitoring the CAP rating process, etc.
