The Professional Development Taskforce (PDTF) focuses on identifying and meeting the needs of ELI faculty and tutors in furthering skill development pertinent to their teaching careers.
The PDTF encourages participation in off-site training events such as those organized by professional organizations Penn TESOL: East and TESOL among others.
On-site training is offered through mentoring partnerships between senior faculty and less experienced instructors, materials for orienting new faculty, informational briefs at faculty meetings, periodic lunch hour roundtable discussions or seminars, and one annual full-day event typically held in the spring. Topics addressed range from cultural differences to teaching techniques in particular language skill areas, as well as writing conference proposals, preparation for presentations and peer review.
