ELI Curriculum

Curricular Approach to Teaching and Learning at ELI

ELI takes a pragmatic approach to educational theory and ESL teaching methodology. That is, approaches are selected in accordance with the needs of the course, content, and students. Courses combine a broadly communicative approach with a commitment to explicit instruction in grammar, vocabulary, and oral intelligibility. This is consistent with a “post-methods” view of ESL instruction, in which principled eclecticism ensures that students’ language needs are met.
