Library Committee Report 3/27/13
The ELI Library Committee now oversees the following collections:
1) The main collection housed at 108 East Main
2) The Lower level Library housed at 318 S. College
3) The West Park Collection housed at West Park Elementary School
4) The Audio/visual collection housed in Room 303 at 189 West Main St.
5) The donated and miscellaneous book collection housed in the basement of 189 W. Main St.
“Librarians” have been assigned to each collection. Librarians oversee the collections. These Committee members are our librarians.
Scott Duarte is the librarian for the 108 East Main St. collection.
Jo Gielow is the librarian for the lower level collection at 318 S. College.
Kate Copeland is the librarian for the West Park Collection at West Park Elementary School.
Walt Babich is the librarian for the Audio- visual collection at 189 West Main.
Monica Farling, our newest member, helps with the 108 East Main collection and will help with electronic cataloging.
These were our goals and the progress that we have made:
1) That we continue to expand the collections by honoring, whenever possible, requests made by teachers for particular materials
We have purchased $834 worth of materials since July.
2) That we investigate the possibility of journal subscriptions , both paper-based and on-line.
We have not done this yet.
3) That we make information about the materials in our inventory available to teachers on-line
The Lower level library catalog is available to teachers in 318. We plan to put our inventory on facbook in the coming year.
4) Continue to catalog and maintain the collection
Ongoing and in progress.
Recommendations for 2013-14
1) That we make information about the inventory available on facbook.
2) That we catalog the miscellaneous collection in the basement of 189 W. Main.
3) That we continue to expand the collection by honoring, whenever possible, requests for additions from teachers.
4) That we continue to maintain and organize all of our collections in all our locations.
