It isn’t too early to start planning your summer, so here’s your first look at the exciting day camps offered this year by the NCC 4-H!

2016 New Castle County 4-H Day Camps

Cloverbud Explorers 4-H Day Camp- June 20 – 24, 2016

During this exciting camp, campers will rotate through mini-classes using our 4-H curriculum. Each day the campers will experience a new topic. Some of the topics include environmental science, healthy living, animal science, culture and much more! A variety of speakers will visit throughout the week, and there will be many opportunities for arts and crafts projects. Campers will have a wonderful hands-on experience in a fun-filled and safe environment.

Ages: 5-7 years old          Location: UD Townsend Hall

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm   Cost: $200.00

Young Explorers 4-H Day Camp – June 20- 24, 2016

(Formerly Newark Day Camp)

Campers will enjoy our traditional 4-H camp with a twist, which highlights a variety of exciting pathways, including Science, Expressive Arts, and Healthy Living & Nutrition. Campers will pre-register for a pathway and that will determine what classes they participate in throughout the week. Each afternoon will feature pool time, water activities and game play. The week will conclude with an exciting council circle where groups will show off their talents and skills to the camp. Campers will experience fun and active days on the University of Delaware campus!

Ages: 8-12 years old       Location: UD Townsend Hall      

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm   Cost: $200.00

All Aboard the LeaderSHIP! An intro to Counselor-In-Training  – June 20- 24, 2016

Teens 13 and older are encouraged to climb aboard the leaderSHIP and tackle a hands-on, out-of-this-world leadership experience. This counselor training program is designed to equip teens with leadership skills that will prepare them to serve as a camp counselor in the future. This camp runs in conjunction with the Young Explorers 4-H Day Camp and teens who are age 13 by May 30 are invited to attend. Training will involve camp counselor protocol, risk management, team building, camper safety, and problem solving. Completion of this program is strongly encouraged for those teens who wish to become a 4-H camp counselor for the 2017 summer camps. 15 Camper Maximum

4-H Shooting Sports Day Camp – June 27-30, 2016

Enjoy a four-day outdoor camp experience with a focus on shooting sports as a safe, fun activity for youth. Campers will learn the basics of Archery, Shotgun, and Air Riffle. Youth will be taught how to responsibly and safely use all the shooting sports equipment while participating in hands-on learning activities. This brand new camp encourages participation in environmental and outdoor education programs by exposing youth to shooting, hunting and other related activities. 4-H Shooting Sports promotes the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior while engaging in hands-on instruction.

Hours: 9:00am- 2:00pm   Cost: $150.00

4-H Animal Science Day Camp – August 8-12, 2016

Youth attending this camp will gain a remarkable up-close educational experience with a variety of animals. Campers will delve deep into animal science to gain a more in-depth understanding of farm animals through hands-on experiences at the University of Delaware Webb Farm. Campers will focus on dairy, equine, swine and poultry science at Webb Farm. Campers will experience a variety of field trips, hands-on activities and speakers during this engaging camp. 50 Camper Maximum

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm   Costs: $250.00

Before Care (7:30 am – 8:30 am) and After Care (4:30 pm – 5:30 pm) are available for an additional $25.00 each, per child per camp session.
