Happy Spring!
March found 19 New Castle County 4-H teens attending Jr. Leader Weekend at Cape Henlopen State Park. Leadership lessons, team building games, yoga, and blanket making for foster children were some of the fun and engaging activities.
The Exchange Group held their second annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser. The funds raised will go towards their stay with 4-H families in Big Fork, Montana this June. A big thank you to Jenny Trunfio, who orchestrated the event, and the many parent volunteers who helped with the execution.
Delaware State Fair registration opens April 1. The 4-H State Fair newsletter (to which a quick link has been added here for convenience) is full of information to help you navigate the many contests and activities at the 98th Annual Delaware State Fair.
Registration is now open for Legislative Day on April 26. The fee is $10 per participant and includes lunch. Tours include the Department of Education and Legislative Hall.
Do not miss Ag Day on April 29 at the University of Delaware College of Ag and Natural Resources from 10-4. Clubs are preparing educational displays- from making bubble blowers and bird feed to horse themed jewelry. If your club is not participating, there are opportunities to volunteer at the General 4-H table or assist the 4-H Leaders at their food booth. Let us know if you want to join the fun!
Plan to participate in the second demonstration contest on May 13, as there are many open categories.
As you can see, with spring comes a wealth of opportunities to learn and grow in 4-H! Please read through the news blog. It contains quick info and registration links for the above events (and many others). Make sure to also check the calendars for activities and deadlines. The blog is here to help you stay informed and easily find the info and forms you need.
Let us know if you have any questions!
Yours in 4-H,
