Hello 4-H Families and Friends,
I hope everyone is staying safe and staying home if you can. During this difficult time, it is good to take a step back and be thankful for the things we have in our life. I know I am thankful to have an amazing job where I get to work with all of you and a supportive family, both at work and home.
I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself for those of you who may not know me. My name is Kaitlin Klair and I have accepted the position of New Castle County 4-H Educator. I had previously held the 4-H Program Coordinator position for the county. I grew up in New Castle County 4-H and have had many mentors over the years. I know I will miss Betsy Morris in the office and working with her to bring a number of different and exciting projects to our 4-H’ers. I am excited to step into this new role and ready to help the 4-H’ers, leaders and volunteers throughout the county and state. We are currently working on filling the Program Coordinator position and hope to have a full 4-H staff come June.
Looking ahead at this month and the next, we have cancelled or postponed most 4-H events through the end of March, April and until May 15th. If you have a 4-H meeting, you can still meet with your club via Zoom. The 4-H staff as a state is actively working to make sure we continue to keep you involved via social media and zoom meetings. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Be sure to look at Delaware 4-H Facebook for exciting challenges we have going on over the next month! Please be patient and be on the look out for changes and upcoming dates. This is definitely a difficult time, but we are all finding new and innovative ways to stay connected.
Here are a few as of now:
~ Exchange Spaghetti Dinner – March 21st rescheduled to May 30th
~ Younger Member Overnighter – Cancelled
~ AG Day – Cancelled
~ Demonstration Contest – Rescheduled TBA
~ Legislative Day – Cancelled
~ Clothing Showcase – Rescheduled TBA

I cannot wait to work with you all in the future! If you need anything – especially now-please reach out, we are happy to help! As part of DE Cooperative Extension, we have resources that may help you navigate this difficult time- from healthy recipes, managing stress, financial planning and fun activities to do. We also partner with many other non-profit and government agencies in Delaware. If you need assistance and aren’t sure where to look, we may be able to connect you with the resources you need. We are here for you. Please reach out to me at kklair@udel.edu or Serena at serenac@udel.edu.
Yours in 4-H,
Kaitlin, Serena and Maureen
