2021 Call For panelists

Date: Tentative Dates. Panels will be held bimonthly on third Thursday of the month.
Time: 1:30PM – 3:00 PM  ET

The Meeting Format:

  • panels would have 4 panelists.
  • Each panelist presenting for 10 minutes.
  • A plenary discussion will follow the panel. 

How to become a Panelist:

  • Please fill out this form after exploring the below mentioned topics and the points that would be discussed under each topic.
  • Filling out the form would help us identify the topics of interest, the topics you are interested in being a pnelist for, and gathering new topic suggestions.

  • Supporting data-intensive computing when the volume of data surpasses the capabilities of the computing and storage technologies that underlie them.
  • Managing – store, retrieve, explore, analyze, and communicate – this abundance of data.

  • Challenges data-intensive applications introduce
  • Solution to those challenges
  • Best practices that should be applied while developing such applications
  • Introducing Tools that support these best practices

Goal: 

Improving the quality of today’s research software and the experiences of its developers by sharing best practices and experiences.

Things to Discuss:

  • Best practices for developing sustainable software;
  • Models for funding specialist expertise in software collaborations;
  • Software tools that aid sustainability;
  • Academia/industry interaction;
  • Refactoring/improving legacy scientific software;
  • Engineering design for sustainable software;
  • Metrics for the success of scientific software;
  • Adaptation of mainstream software practices for scientific software.

Providing a decent support infrastructure to CDI science

  • Benefits of interaction platforms
  • Features of good interaction platforms
  • How can we cross-reference other platforms?
  • Making connectivity between all these platforms.

Goal:

Bringing uniformity to Data format of tools.

Things to Discuss:

  • How to bring uniformity to the format that tools use to exchange and interoperate.
  • What are available projects currently working on this
  • What are approaches toward uniform data format for tools.
