About Robert Hampel: 

Dr. Robert Hampel is professor in the School of Education and a historian of education (Yale BA, Cornell PhD) who also studies contemporary educational policy. He is the Secretary/Treasurer of the national History of Education Society. In Delaware, Bob has been a Public Service Fellow for the Governor, a trustee of the Sanford School, and a consultant to the Department of Education. In 1995, he won the University’s highest award for excellence in teaching, and in 2009, he received the prize for outstanding mentoring of graduate students. Bob will discuss his new book, Fast and Furious, A History of Shortcuts in American Education (Bowman & Littlefield Publishing Group), on what he calls “shortcuts to learning”, the legitimate and bogus ways to make education (or its illusion) both faster and easier.

 


Checks ($20 per luncheon attendee) payable to the University of Delaware are due at the door. No cash nor credit/debit cards, please! Without a reservation, seating is not guaranteed. The absolute deadline for luncheon registrations is Tuesday, Septermber 25, 2018, which is also the final date for canceling a reservation without charge. Be sure to note any dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.) in the Comments box on the form.
