About the lab
Research in Lee laboratory focuses on understanding how plant cells communicate using cellular, molecular, biochemical, and genetics approaches. The Lee lab (https://www.dbi.udel.edu/biographies/jung-youn-lee) is located at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute on Wyoming road.

About the position
Undergraduate assistants are needed to prepare and maintain plant materials and to help with basic lab maintenance. Students will be trained to prepare pots, plant seeds, culture seedlings to adult plants, and harvest seeds and to clean and organize lab wares. Students will be also trained on how to perform sterile culture techniques including media preps, seed sterilization, and seedling culture as needs arise. Work hours and length are flexible, but students are expected to work approximately 10 to 15 hrs per week depending on the research needs each week. Importantly, students are required to commit to a consecutive period of at least 1.5 year once hired and availability through the summer at least 15 hrs per week is essential.

Qualifications
Sophomores and juniors majoring in Biology, Plant Science, Chemistry, or Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, who are maintaining good grades and have taken intro laboratory courses are encouraged to apply. Prior laboratory research experience is not required but a plus. Highly motivated freshmen with prior work experience demonstrating strong work ethics and have interests in plant-based research will be also considered. Successful candidates are expected to have good organization and time management skills as well as work well with others and follow directions.
