Lee Hyeon-Seo
Lee Hyeon-Seo is a current student, and past North Korean defector, currently residing in Seoul, South Korea. She was born in January 1980. Lee grew up in Hyesan, North Korea. In 1997, she escaped the across the Yalu River alone with the assistant of a friendly border guard. After 10 years, she finally immigrated permanently to South Korea, eventually returning for her brother and mother. In 2011, she studied English to boost her career prospects. In college, she worked at the Ministry of Unification in South Korea. As of May 2014, she was still studying at the University.
