Rafael Trujillo (1891-1961)
- Originally a United States Marine(1919)
- Rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Military Commander-in-chief in the Dominican Republic
- In 1930, named himself a candidate in the election for president, and won by a landslide.
- A hurricane allowed Trujillo to create Martial Law, and start a dictatorship
- Known as the Trujillo Regime, his gruesome dictatorship lasted over 30 years until he was assassinated in 1961 by a group of resistors.
