A Canvas production update will occur on Saturday, August 16, 2025.  Check out the full release notes.  Production updates occur on third Saturday of each month, and the next planned update is Saturday, September 20, 2025.  No interface changes were scheduled for this production update, but there have been updates through deploys since the last production update:

New Analytics Tool Renamed (July 30 deploy)
The New Analytics course navigation menu link and home page right sidebar link text has been updated to Course Analytics.  The legacy analytics tool has been removed, so this update improves clarity and consistency and indicates this is now the standard tool version.

New Quizzes Enhanced Activity Log Details (July 30 deploy)
New role-based permissions allow instructors who enable the “Detect Multiple Sessions” to view multi-session activity highlighted in red in the quiz log on the Moderate page.

Differentiation Tag Feature Preview Updates (August 13 deploy)
The following changes have been implemented in Differentiation Tags feature preview:

  • CSV Import Support:  Instructors can create and assign Differentiation Tags via CSV import.
  • Tag Display Updated in Differentiation Modal:  The Differentiation Tag modal now displays tags horizontally saving space for large enrollment courses.
  • Role and Tag Filter Update:  In the People page, the role filter is updated with the latest version of InstUI and supports filtering by tags.

For additional information, please see the Canvas guide, How do I create and manage Differentiation Tags as an instructor?, or visit the Differentiation Tags User Group.
