All of us have a responsibility to make the University’s digital content accessible to everyone. Through conscientious design and collaboration, together we can ensure that our students, faculty, staff and other community members are welcomed at our institution and equipped to succeed.
Did you know?
- Approximately 19% of college students have a disability.
- Only one-third of those students will disclose their disability to their higher education institution.
- Approximately 10% of UD students utilize support from Disability Support Services (DSS).
- There are many students in addition to those registered with DSS who could benefit from accessible materials.
Join us this winter for the 10-Day Accessibility Challenge which will run January 6 through January 17, 2025. This asynchronous online course will help you learn simple ways to make your course(s) accessible in Canvas such as heading structure; unordered and ordered lists, meaningful links, alternate text and complex images, color contrast and accessible audio. Each day you will learn about one task through a short 2-3 minute video to help guide you in making your materials accessible. Please register here.
For more information about accessibility at UD, please visit the UD Accessibility website or the Canvas Accessibility Overview course.
