A Canvas production update will occur on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Check out the full release notes. Production updates occur on third Saturday of each month, and the next planned update is Saturday, December 16, 2023. Updates in the current release include:
New Quizzes Updates
Several new features have been implemented in this release:
- Item Bank Sorting: Item banks have modified the sort function view to improve efficiency when searching for an item bank. This change affects both the Items Banks tool view and in the New Quizzes build page. Item banks presented in a tabular view when in the tool and with a Sort By drop-down menu in the New Quizzes builder.
- Duplicate Item Banks: Item banks now have a duplicate feature. Duplicated Item banks can be edited without affecting the original content and provide the ability to share item banks that can be modified and not impact the original. The duplicated bank has the same title with “- Copy” appended.
- Anonymous Grading: Instructors can enable Anonymous Grading option on New Quizzes. Once enabled, student quiz details and the Manage Current Attempt section on the quiz builder Moderate page are hidden. All grades are hidden from the instructor in Grades and must be posted for student viewing. Once grades are posted for everyone in the course, and anonymity is removed.
Please note: This feature requires enabling the Anonymous Grading feature option in your Canvas course. For more information about feature options available in your course, please see the Canvas@UD post, Canvas Course Feature Options.
Canvas Media Recorder Permission and Caption Update
To improve security, Canvas has changed how permissions and captions are associated with Canvas media recorder files when copied. These changes do not affect media files stored in UD Capture Space/My Media. Copied media file permissions are based on the new copied media instead of the original content. Additionally, captions are independent of the original media and can be deleted or replaced without affecting the original content. Copied media inherits captions from the original. Inherited captions of existing media cannot be deleted from the copied course, instead a tooltip notifies users that these captions cannot be removed.
