Canvas has released a new feature to help maintain your course gradebook. If you are familiar with the Gradebook tool “Set Default Grade” for an assignment, a similar ability is now available to apply in bulk to either all assignments in an assignment group or to all assignments in the gradebook. In Grades, select the option “Apply Score to Ungraded” from either the options menu for an assignment group column or for the Total column.
You will need to reload the Grades page to monitor score changes. Scores can be applied to ungraded assignments that are past due only or to all ungraded assignments. Choosing all ungraded assignments will include those that may not yet be due, so exercise caution when using this selection. Please note that this action cannot be undone, and any scores applied can only be reverted manually. As with any major change to your gradebook, it is recommended that you export your gradebook for reference before applying bulk score changes.
For more information, please see the Canvas guide, How do I apply scores to ungraded assignments as an Instructor?, or view the release screencast:
If you have any questions about the changes or about how to use Canvas effectively, IT-Academic Technology Services staff is always available at the IT-ATS Welcome Bar or you can send your questions to canvas-info@udel.edu.
