A Canvas production update will occur on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Check out the full release notes. Production updates occur on third Saturday of each month, and the next planned update is Saturday, January 15, 2022. There is no December, 2021, production update scheduled. Updates in the current release include:
SpeedGrader – Text Entry Assignment Word Count
The word count for assignment submission of the text entry type is displayed in SpeedGrader in the sidebar. Current functionality is only for text entry assignment submissions and does not apply to any other submission type, such as graded discussions.
Assignments – Submission Feedback Indicator for Students
In the Assignment Details page, the Show Rubric and View Feedback links use a blue dot indicate when new unread comments have been added as an annotation or in a rubric.
New Quizzes Updates
- Assignments and Quizzes Build Link
New Quizzes in Assignments and Quizzes pages include an options menu link to the quiz Build page to match the feature previously introduced in the Modules page. The link to the quiz Build page allows instructors to immediately change quiz questions, general settings, or quiz moderation options without having to visit the assignment settings. - Stimulus Question Orientation
The stimulus question type includes the ability to choose if the related questions appear to the right or below. By default, associated questions are shown to the right of the stimulus.
Gradebook Search Field Enhancements (October 27 deploy)
The gradebook student name and assignment search fields now allow multiple entries to be filtered at the same time. The drop-down menu option will also allow you to select one or multiple student names or assignments.
Selecting a student name filters the gradebook to display only that student’s row. If multiple students are selected, deselecting a student removes the student’s row from the Gradebook view. Selecting an assignment displays the assignment in a column closest to the student name. If multiple assignments are selected, the assignment columns display in the reverse order they are selected.
