A  Canvas production update will occur on Saturday, March 21, 2020.  Here are the full release notes. Production updates occur on third Saturday of each month, and the next planned update is Saturday, April 18, 2020.  Updates in the current release include:

Syllabus Course Summary Visibility
Instructors can now remove the auto-generated Course Summary section that appears in the lower portion of the Syllabus tool page.  The option appears when editing the Syllabus tool.  The option to show the summary is selected by default.

Re-Upload Submissions Status Page
Instructors can now navigate away from the assignment page if re-uploading submissions, and the status of the re-uploaded files is managed in the background so the uploader no longer needs to wait for the files confirmation page. This change also prevent large files from timing out during the upload.  Previously, instructors had to wait for all files to be uploaded before they could leave the page, but now clicking the Upload Files button displays a status page indicating that the files are being processed.

The assignment sidebar displays a View Uploads Status button that can be used to view the status of the files.  This button will display even after the upload is complete, but the page displays the results of the last upload.

Gradebook Export Sort Order
Instructors who export a Gradebook CSV file view the file in the same order as displayed in the Assignments page to provide consistency between the Assignments page and the CSV file.

New Rich Content Editor Auto Save
A new Auto-Save feature option is available if you are a user of the New Rich Content Editor (RCE).  If enabled in a course, when a user enters content into the editor window, the editor automatically saves the content for up to one hour if the user navigates away from the page.  If the user returns to the page within the hour, Canvas will notify the user if any saved content is different from the existing content. The user can preview the auto-saved content and select the Yes button to load the auto-saved content or the No button to discard the auto-saved content.

Saved content is stored in each browser’s local storage, which means Canvas can only recover auto-saved content using the same browser on the same computer an hour within the last edit.

The Auto-Save feature option must be enabled in your course along with the New RCE in course Settings.  Click the Feature Options tab.

Canvas Settings feature tab

Move the RCE Auto-Save toggle to on.  The toggle should turn green and display a checkmark.
