A  Canvas production update will occur on Saturday, February 15, 2020.  Here are the full release notes. Production updates now occur on third Saturday of each month, and the next planned update is Saturday, March 21, 2020.  There were not many changes that affected the Canvas@UD production instance, but below are some minor changes:

Restricted File Access Option Clarification
When Canvas updated the visibility icons several months ago, it changed the wording for the option to hide a file from students in Files but allow them to see the file through a link.  The text has for the option has been reverted to “Only available to students with a link.”

For more information about the visibility options of your course site Files, please review the Canvas guide, How do I restrict files and folders to students in Canvas?

Commons – Favorites Import
After favoriting Commons content, instructors can open Quizzes, Pages, Discussions, Assignments, or Modules in their course and import favorited items into the content area.  Previously, Commons content could only be imported to a course directly from Commons.  Embedded content can be any type, not just embedded file types.

Not sure what the Canvas Commons is?  The Canvas Commons is a digital library full of educational content.  Commons allows Canvas users to share learning resources with other users as well as import learning resources into a Canvas course.  A resource in Commons can be a course, module, quiz, assignment, discussion, page, document, video, image, or audio file.  If you are new to Canvas and looking for some ideas, see the Canvas guide, How do I use Commons?
