Greetings 4-H Families and Friends,
Congratulations are in order!
Congratulations to Blaky Wasgatt of Clover Quest and Janice Melson of the Meado Larks who were recently recognized with the Salute to Excellence Awards at the State Leader’s Forum. Blaky received the Volunteer of the Year and Janice the Lifetime Volunteer Award.
Congratulations to our National 4-H Conference delegates: Alyson Melson of the Meado Larks and Patrick Trunfio of Stump Corner. They will travel to Washington, DC this month with other 4-H’ers from across the nation to discuss and brainstorm ways to solve a variety of issues pertaining to youth. Kaitlin will be traveling with the Delaware delegation. Have a great trip!
Congratulations to our own New Castle County 4-H Alumni and actress, Aubrey Plaza, who is being recognized on March 21 by National 4-H Council with the Legacy Award. She has signed on as a spokesperson for National 4-H as they kick off the “Raise your Hand” campaign to connect with 4-H alumni nationwide. Aubrey was a member of the Highlanders 4-H Club.
In addition, in an effort to locate and reconnect with our many alums, Delaware recently kicked off “Delaware Alumni Check In” where anyone can register 4-H Alumni. See the Alumni Check-In icon on the State 4-H website.
There are many important upcoming events to read about in the March blog including:
State Camps, Environmental Camp and Day Camps are now registering. Please help us spread the word about our great summer camping program.
Come out and support our Exchange Group at their Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Townsend on March 18. The funds raised cover travel to Montana this summer. If you cannot make the dinner and would like to contribute to their effort, donations would be greatly appreciated.
Ag Day is April 29 and a great opportunity for 4-H clubs to highlight their activities and knowledge. If your club would like to participate, please submit your registration form by March 17. Our 4-H Leaders will have a food booth and help is welcomed throughout the day. The funds raised help support many New Castle County 4-H programs.
Yours in 4-H,
Betsy, Kaitlin and Serena
