Greetings 4-H Families and Friends,

Congratulations to our 2020 National 4-H Summit Delegates from New Castle County:

  • Daisy Timney of the Heavenly Hooves Club attended the Agri-Science Summit in January.
  • Tyrell Ferguson, Camp FRESH Club and Shaniya Lewis, Healthy Living Ambassador attended the Healthy Living Summit in February. Chaperones were Karen Johnston, Betsy Morris and UD intern Aleah Church.
  • Richard Melson, Meado-Larks Club Leader, chaperoned the Photography Summit.

Looking ahead, there are many events to read about and register for in the March blog including:

~State Camps, Environmental Camp and Day Camps begin registering on March 2.  Please help us spread the word about our great summer camp program.

~The first demonstration contest is March 26 followed by the second date of May 9. Do not miss this great opportunity to share your 4-H knowledge and skills. For more info: https://www.udel.edu/academics/colleges/canr/cooperative-extension/personal-economic-development/4H-youth-development/events/

~Come out and support our Exchange Group at their Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Townsend on March 21 from 5-7 pm. The funds raised help to cover expenses to host the 4-H group from Minnesota in June. If you cannot attend the dinner and would like to contribute to their effort, donations would be greatly appreciated.

~An exciting Younger Member Overnighter is planned for March 28-29 at Ashland Nature Center. This opportunity is for 8-12 yr. olds.  Please register by March 13.

~Ag Day is April 25 and a great opportunity for 4-H Clubs to highlight their activities.  Please submit the registration form by March 13 to the NCC Office. All participants will receive special Ag Day t-shirt to wear. Our 4-H Leaders will have a food booth and help is welcomed throughout the day. The funds raised help support many New Castle County 4-H programs.

From Betsy: Thank you to everyone for the kind words, emails and cards as I move on to “retirement”. It has been truly a pleasure to have this opportunity to work in Delaware 4-H. Let us all keep making the best better!

Yours in 4-H,

Betsy, Kaitlin, Serena and Maureen
