Dear 4-H Families and Friends,

Congrats to the participants in the January 25  Favorite Foods and Foods Judging Contest! This year, we had a really large number of youth and adults gathered at Kirk Middle School to see a great showing of creative place settings and delicious recipes. We were so pleased to see so many come out and share their talent! Photography Contest entries were also on display during the event, and members also participated in the Foods Judging Contest. See results in posting.

Angela Brown, leader of the Heavenly Hooves Club was awarded Volunteer of the Year at the Statewide Leader Forum on February 1.  Sarah Berninger, who leads the St. Ann’s Club and assists with the Porter Gang Club and Camp Counselor Club, was honored with the Lifetime Volunteer Award. In addition, Sarah was named the State Winner and will go on to regional competition. Thank you for your service!

The first demonstration contest is March 26. A successful 4-H demonstration does not have to be complicated; instead, it can be a lot of fun! Demonstrations are a great opportunity to show your 4-H knowledge and skills to others. 4-Her’s can compete as an individual or work with another 4-Her for a team demonstration. See registration info and contact us if you need help!

Reminders** All 4-H Members must enroll with 4-H Online by March 1, 2020 to be eligible to participate in any summer statewide events such as State Camp and State Fair**

Inclement Weather Policy – If the Christina School District closes for the day, has early dismissal or cancels after-school activities, then NCC 4-H events are cancelled.  Weekend 4-H events will be cancelled if the University of Delaware closes or cancels events.

Farewell from Betsy – I will be leaving my position as the New Castle County 4-H Educator in mid-March. I have spent over twenty years in Cooperative Extension in various part-time and full-time roles. It has been a pleasure to work with 4-H families and youth. I am from a lifelong 4-H family and this amazing program will always be a huge part of our life as we continue to make the best better!

As always, please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or need assistance!

Yours in 4-H,

Betsy, Kaitlin, Serena and Maureen
