Dear 4-H Families and Friends,
Welcome to a new 4-H year! We are excited to welcome new members and families and to see our 4-Her members grow, learn and achieve! Below are some important updates.
~Please be sure you are enrolled or re-enrolled as a member in 4-H Online beginning Sept. 1. All members need to register before participating in 4-H events. 4-H Online Registration can be found on the DE 4-H website homepage. https://extension.udel.edu/4h/
~We are planning a 4-H booth at Newark Community Day on Sept. 15 and the Hispanic Heritage Festival on Sept. 22. Youth and adult volunteers are needed. Please let Betsy know if you can help for an hour or more. (betsym@udel.edu)
~Record books will be due Sept. 23. Completing a record book is the best way to document your 4-H accomplishments. An online fillable form is now available. Record book training is available on Sept. 9 at 6 pm at the Extension Office. Please RSVP with serenac@udel.edu or 831-8965 by Sept. 6. Other times are available by appointment. All 4-Hers completing a record book will be honored at the October 6 Achievement Event.
~Many 4-Hers will be honored at the County Achievement Event on October 6 at 2 p.m. at the Extension office. Please plan to attend what promises to be a great celebration. This event kicks off National 4-H Week, so we are asking everyone to join us in a GREEN OUT. Please wear green or your 4-H clover. We are especially excited to announce that Miss Delaware, Hillary May will be the guest speaker. She is a PHD student at the Univ. of Delaware. Her platform is Let’s Talk, Breaking the Stigma around Mental Health. She may even share her vocal talents!
~Lastly, we are planning a Quarter Auction on November 1 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Odessa. Funds raised will benefit the 4-H Leaders Association and the Exchange Group. We are asking each club to donate one or two items. If you would like to help by donating items, soliciting donations, supplying food/snacks, or volunteering at the event please let us know. This promises to be a fun-filled event. We hope many families and friends will attend! (See blog posting for more details.)
Looking forward to a great year in New Castle County 4-H!
Betsy, Kaitlin, Serena and Maureen
