Dear 4-H Families and Friends,
October 1-7 marks National 4-H Week! It is a great chance to promote 4-H to family and friends. Many clubs are participating through promotional window displays and banners. Look for these displays around our county at locations in Newark, Bear and Middletown.
Another 4-H Week event occurs on October 4th – National 4-H Youth Science Day. It is the world’s largest youth led science experiment. This year’s challenge is Incredible Wearables. 4-H Afterschool clubs will be participating and creating wearable fitness trackers.
The annual fall Paper Clover campaign kicks off during National 4-H Week. From October 4-15, please encourage family and friends to go to Tractor Supply and support 4-H. Proceeds from this fundraiser help defer costs of many state and county events.
We are now into the 2017-18 4-H year. Please be sure you are enrolled as a member in 4-H Online. All members need to register before participating in 4-H events. You can re-enroll by visiting www.4honline.com . It will only take seconds if you don’t have any updates to personal information- we promise! If you cannot remember which email you use to log in, please DO NOT create a new profile! Call the office at 302-831-8965 or email Serena at serenac@udel.edu and she will be happy to let you know.
All 4-Hers should plan to join us for the October 29 achievement event. The event will be held at the Cooperative Extension office in Newark from 2-4 pm. The theme is “Harvest the Rewards of 4-H” as we will present many awards, honors and recognition. Bring your decorated or carved pumpkin to share for a chance to win a prize. There will be door prizes, giveaways, a silent auction and refreshments. A “Year in Review” slide show is planned. If you would like to contribute pictures for the show please email them to Serena at serenac@udel.edu. Please RSVP at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1S9hSV2u9ZoAozlQieJT0bM1HuzI-_UNM1MCnXoDanXY/edit or by calling the office at 302-831-8965. Please RSVP by Friday, October 20.
The next 4-H Leader Training will be held on November 4 at the Paradee Center in Dover. New 4-H volunteers as well as current leaders will benefit from this training. See the post within this blog for more info.
Now is the time to plan your 4-H year. Plan to participate in new events, make new friends, volunteer, plan community service activities and tell others the 4-H story. 4-H has something for everyone!
Yours in 4-H,
Betsy, Kaitlin and Serena
